Under the decisive leadership of Mettler Entwickler AG, the site of the former CU Chemie Uetikon AG chemical plant is being transformed into a vibrant new neighbourhood for the municipality of Uetikon am See.
This mixed-use lakeside neighbourhood is a vision of the future of development, combining residential, commercial, education, recreational, leisure and cultural facilities along with a range of services. Situated in the picturesque surroundings directly on Lake Zurich, on a site that has not been open to the public since the beginning of the 19th century, this project marks a significant turning point and promises to become a vibrant and inclusive part of the community.
At the heart of the new residential and business district in Uetikon am See is the historic and listed Düngerbau building. This impressive building combines the past with the future and is destined to become the social centre of Uetikon am See. It will accommodate vibrant businesses, from restaurants to offices and studios, and will also host cultural events and small festivals. Designated as a public building, the Düngerbau building will invigorate the neighbourhood and create a bridge between the lake, the people and the culture. The variety of apartments in the district will ensure a diverse mix of tenants and buyers. In addition, the canton of Zurich plans to build a new cantonal school for around 1,500 pupils and a vocational school for 500 students in the east of the site, which underlines the importance of the area as a central educational and living space.
